Bend, Oregon (PRWEB) May 01, 2015

WattzOn, a leading provider of web and mobile engagement tools that help people save energy and money, has partnered with The Environmental Center to assist Bend, Oregon residents in saving energy through the Bend Energy Challenge. The Bend Energy Challenge helps Bend residents and businesses save energy by providing access to efficiency tips, home assessments, solar and more. Engagement starts with a pledge to be a “Bend Energy Hero” and WattzOn ties the program together with utility data tracking and resident activity reporting.

The Bend Energy Challenge is part of the Georgetown University Energy Prize (GUEP) competition, in which 50 cities across the U.S. are competing to lower their energy use. A goal of the competition is to transform America’s energy landscape by spurring innovative new models of community-wide energy efficiency that can be replicated and scaled across the country.

“We’re proud to be a semi-finalist in the Georgetown University Energy Prize and are excited about helping Bend residents and businesses save energy,” said Lindsey Hardy, Project Director at The Environmental Center. “Ultimately, the goal of the GUEP is to demonstrate innovative, scalable community approaches to energy efficiency. Partnering with WattzOn moves us closer to that objective by adding an online engagement platform and data tracking to our offline outreach efforts. It’s a great match.”

“WattzOn is excited to partner with The Environmental Center, a sustainability leader, to bring energy engagement and savings to Bend residents,” said Jon Enberg, VP of Partnerships and Business Development for WattzOn. “Bend is known as an active, outdoor community that cares about initiatives like saving energy, so we look forward to supporting their efforts in the Georgetown Energy Prize with our data-driven, energy engagement platform.”

WattzOn’s customizable platform allows partners to measure resident engagement in energy-saving activities and integrates home and utility data into measurable reporting. During the GUEP competition, WattzOn will help Bend and other communities save energy in new and innovative ways.
